Description of the road Sangeorgiu de Padure to Sovata

For many people, nothing beats the sensation of driving for the sake of driving. Focusing on creating a harmony between you and the car, to ensure a smooth drive, passing through some beautiful scenic spots, the road from Sangeorgiu de Padure to Sovata is one that should not be missed out on!

Sângeorgiu de Pădure city is located on the east, south-east of Mureş County, on the course of Târnava Mică River, 27 km of Sovata city and 42 km of Tîrgu-Mureş municipality, on both banks of the river, surrounded by hills and forests. This is the place where Rhedey Klaudia lived, the grandmother of Queen Mary-Victoria of Great Britain, great-great-grandmother of the current Queen of Great Britain; Elisabeth. Here you can immerse yourself in a forgotten world that most people would believe to have ceased to exist in today’s Europe.

You can drive on the hill leading to Rhédey family crypt, symbol of the city, through the surrounding forests, on Dealul Cetății where the legend says that there is a treasure of an ancient citadel or you can visit the city households. Târnava Mică is dividing the city into two parts. At the edge of it, Cușmed brook flows into Târnava Mică. From Sângeorgiu de Pădure you can reach Sovata through DN13 A in about 30 minutes if you’ll drive with an average speed of 60mph (96 kmh). Also you can enjoy the beautiful countryside and venture out on a journey across a virgin landscape. Nature lovers will feel they have stepped into an unspoiled medieval landscape of rolling hills, lush meadows, oak forests and fence-free fields dotted with haystacks. It is literally in the middle of nowhere and that is why we like it so much. Bare landscapes, endless views, sheep and lambs grazing in the fields around you, and so remotely positioned that you might even spot deer or other wild animals.
